He then overthrows the emperor of earth and becomes the first president of the alliance.
G'Kar: The Narn Ambassador to Babylon 5. He starts out seeming like a villanous character, willing to do anything to get his race ahead of the others. In actuality G'Kar is a spiritual and honorable individual who manages to figure out who the shadows are before anyone else. After his homeworld is once again enslaved, he seeks asylum on Babylon 5 while searching for a way to help his people escape. He eventually ends up as a jester on the Centuari homeworld, working there to help Londo defeat the crazy emperor. He chooses to sacrifice himself and kills Londo to save Sheridan.

Over time the show shifts to more fully explore his midlife crisis, and the issues with trying to rebuild an empire. Farther into the show he becomes the driving force for alien interactions, as he is slowly moving towards darker and darker choices. This culminates with him destroying most of the Narn homeworld. After this he spends most of the rest of the show trying to undo the terrible deeds he has done, but only succeeds in making it worse every time.
Dr. Stephen Franklin: The chief medical officer aboard Babylon 5, for most of the show he spends his time in the medical lab trying to keep the various injured people from dying. When a plague affects one of the races, he works day and night for a week to try to cure them before they are all wiped out. Unfortunately he was too late, and the guilt of his failure haunts him for the rest of the show. This leads to him becoming addicted to stimms in an effort to keep awake longer in order to save more people. In the end he becomes ashamed of his addiction and decides to quit his post, eventually returning when he becomes injured in the slums. After this he doesn't do anything particularly note worthy
Delenn: The ambassador of the Minbari to Babylon 5. She is one of the members of the Minbari governing body, the Grey Council. She forgoes becoming the foretold leader of the Minbari to instead undergo a transformation to a half human/half Minbari. Using this new form, she tries to keep the humans and the Minbari from killing each other as she believes that the humans and the Minbari have the same souls. Over the course of the show she becomes more compassionate, but also less willing to avoid direct confrontation. At the end of the show she is the one that forges the alliance into the powerful force for peace that last for hundreds of years.
Kosh: The ambassador of the Vorlons. He is mysterious and is only seen once without his encounter suit. For most of the series he only responds to questions with more questions and cryptic answers. He eventually reveals himself to be an angel of myth when he saves Sheridan from a transport bomb. During the beginning of the shadow war, Kosh is reluctant to have his race intervene in the war. When Sheridan manages to convince Kosh to support the forces of light, the shadows assassinate Kosh. However he survives by bonding his spirit to Sheridan's. In the end he destroys himself and an imposter Kosh in order to prevent the Vorlons from interfering with the younger races.
